When Hollywood approaches you to do a movie... the general rule is 'you do the movie', especially when it's a lead in the film adaptation of Stieg Larsson's best-seller, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo to be directed by Fight Club and Se7en's David Fincher. Not for Yo-landi Visser (Vi$$er) of Die Antwoord, South Africa's hottest international "punk-rap-pop-art" sensation currently on tour in Europe. (continued below) ART, EXPLICIT LYRICS, PUNK-RAP AND PINK FLOYD PANTS...
When moguls approached her to take on the role, so had to decline the part of tough and willful Lisbeth Salander. David Fincher was attracted to Vi$$er's appearance and attitude, despite her lack of formal film experience - but she says Die Antwoord is "her life". Yo-landi hasn't read the book, but friends have told her she reminds them of the title character. There's nothing small about the part, which has even peaked the interest of Oscar-nominated actress, Carey Mulligan. Daniel Craig has already been primed for the lead male role, but Fincher has decided that a lesser-known actress would suit the character of Lisbeth Salander better. Vi$$er's decision is probably a win-win in the long run, considering that Die Antwoord is still ripping it up and that such early interest from an acclaimed director like David Fincher could spawn a number of more alluring film roles and offers in the future. Once Yo-landi and Ninja have secured their international presence beyond the ranks of YouTube notoriety, there may be room for a little diversification. However, Vi$$er's made her motives clear... she's not about to sell-out for glitz and glamor.
