Yes, it did seem rather slow paced, but I think I enjoyed the fact that the director took her time in developing their relationship on screen, even if it did feel awkward and empty at times. She really captured some beautiful scenes between Fanny and John, with a sense of intimacy I have not seen on screen before. And I guess these scenes really do make you feel like the world has stopped, even if only for a few moments. John's poetry also adds a lovely texture to the film, with his poem spoken over the end credits being of noteworthy mention. Bottom line, it had a slow start and does drag it's feet a bit, but it's a beautiful flick - and Abbie Cornish is a babe! Comment : Mon 08-02-10 |
